This experience informs Spicy Psychology’s emphasis on science-based, evidence-backed practice, clear communication, thoughtful formulation, and practical recommendations that people can actually use.
Melanie is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and a proud member of the League of Autistic Psychologists and Affirming Colleagues (LOAPAC).
Spicy Psychology is a neurodivergent-affirming psychology practice for adults, children, teens, parents, carers and families.
The practice is being developed by Dr Melanie McGuire Hindle, Psychologist (Provisional), who brings a strong background in research and research training, psychology, evidence-based practice, and lived experience as an AuDHD PDAer with a 2e cognitive profile. She is a proud member of the League of Autistic Psychologists and Affirming Colleagues (LOAPAC).
Spicy Psychology is grounded in the belief that neurodivergent people deserve support that understands their nervous system capacity, sensory needs, communication differences, burnout, masking, identity, autonomy, culture and context.
As a multiply neurodivergent and gamer-informed practice, Spicy Psychology values the role of games such as Minecraft, fandom, special interests and geek culture in the facilitation of therapy. For many neurodivergent young people and adults, these are not distractions from real life; they are part of our identity, regulation, communication, creativity and connection.
At Spicy Psychology, care is built around curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for neurodivergent ways of being. The approach is neuroaffirming, trauma-informed, collaborative, lived-experience-informed and research-informed.
Whether working with children, teens, adults, parents, carers, or families, Spicy Psychology aims to create a space where people do not have to mask, minimise, or translate themselves to be taken seriously.
Assessment and therapy are not about finding what is wrong with a person. They are about making sense of experiences, identifying strengths and supports, and helping people move forward with greater clarity, self-understanding and confidence.

Spicy Psychology pays respect to Elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be,
Aboriginal land.
As a non-Indigenous person living and practising on stolen land, Melanie recognises the privilege she holds and remains committed to ongoing learning, cultural humility, accountability, and trauma-informed, anti-oppressive practice.
